International help

While searching through the internet, I found a website talking about the trafficking of women in other countries around the world. Following this, I went into more depth on the subject. Eventually I came across the website for the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women. Upon reading more and more about this group I have decided to spread the word about it and it's contribution to ending the oppression of women.

Services that help women

As I have said before, Freedom House uses the holistic approach when caring for women. Their services involve both private and public ways of helping women overcome their problems. Another point is that instead of merely treating the women that come to the Freedom House. Freedom House seeks to also educate women on their situations and bring the individual into understanding where they are and what they can do. Other services provided by the Freedom House are:
  • Individualized case management
  • Substance abuse treatment/education
  • Individual/group counseling
  • Treatment/discharge planning
  • In-house 12 step recovery meetings
  • Aftercare/relapse prevention services

How does this organization help women?

Freedom House wants to make sure that less women are homeless and are not dependent on chemicals. Mainly the approach to healing is from a holistic perspective. The idea behind this is one that very many psychologists, counselors, and therapists use with their patients. In order for a person to get help they have to make a decision to want to get better. The Freedom House wants to help women recognize their full potential as well as their ability to obtain a better quality of life. That goal is to empower women to realize that they deserve better and can do better in life.
